The Fed has continued to raise interest rates, and may not be done yet. They’ve raised rates 11 times since starting in March 2022, bringing its benchmark rate to the highest level in 22 years!
These higher interest rates continue to put pressure on the banking system. This is because many banks invest in bonds and other debt securities which lose value when interest rates rise. Banks can be forced to sell these investments at a significant loss, which is what caused the 3 bank failures in March 2023.

Gold has a 20 year average annual rate of return of 8.8%. Now this is only a few percentage points behind stocks over the same time frame. You can’t argue that an almost 9% annual rate of return is bad. But that’s not the only benefit of buying gold. Let’s talk about some of my other favorite reasons to purchase this precious metal.

Gold has a 20 year average annual rate of return of 8.8%. Now this is only a few percentage points behind stocks over the same time frame. You can’t argue that an almost 9% annual rate of return is bad. But that’s not the only benefit of buying gold.
